FIRST FACULTY SENATE ELECTED AT BETHANY COLLEGE
           
            The Bethany College faculty has elected its first faculty senate and approved bylaws for a new faculty governance structure.
            Elected to the faculty senate were Robert Carlson, professor of accounting and business; Bruce Kahler, professor of history; Loranelle Lockyear, associate professor of chemistry; Daniel Mahraun, associate professor of music; Barbara Mohler-Spear, professor of business; and Ed Pogue, associate professor of art.
            Carlson was elected chairman of the faculty senate.
            The bylaws call for the senate members to serve staggered three-year terms, beginning with two members each serving one-, two- and three-year terms.
   
The faculty also elected a standing curriculum committee. Members elected were David Norlin, associate professor of social work; Dave Admire, associate professor of criminal justice; Carl Isaacson, associate professor of communications; Melody Steed, assistant professor of music; and Kristin Van Tassel, assistant professor of English.
            Marlysue Holmquist, associate professor of education, was appointment to the curriculum committee by the education department.
            Carl Isaacson was elected chair of the curriculum committee.
            The full assembly of the faculty will continue to meet twice a year.
