Computer - Tech Tips
  • Users of Internet Explorer 7 can access a quick reference guide for Internet Explorer shortcuts and common tasks:
    http://www.microsoft.com/windows/products/winfamily/ie/quickref.mspx

  • For better reliability of your files, save all data to your network drives (such as the H-drive) rather than in My Documents or your computer's local hard drive.

  • For security reasons, lock your computer when you step out of the office. Simply press the Windows logo key + L.

  • Daylight saving time ends Nov. 4 this year, which is different from previous years. To make sure your pc will update correctly, visit:
    http://support.microsoft.com/gp/cp_dst

  • You can find free, self-paced training courses for Microsoft Office software online at:
    http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/training/FX100565001033.aspx

  • The majority of Microsoft Office users at Bethany have versions of Office 2003, or earlier versions. This means that they're not able to open files from Office 2007.

If you're an Office 2007 user who will be sending a file to other people on campus, you can avert problems by saving your file as a "Word 97-2003 document." You can find the option in the "Save as type" drop-down box in the "Save As" window. Choosing this option means that anyone you send the document to will be able to open it.
