A regular update for people and congregations who support Bethany College and its students.

A Bright Future for Bethany

Alumni, students, staff, faculty and friends are invited to the Bright Future Town Hall Gathering at Bethany College. The gathering will be held Friday, Nov. 16 from 3:30 - 4 p.m. on the Presser Hall stage, where President Ed Leonard and Board Chair Tad Doering will make an important announcement about Bethany's future. To listen live online, visit www.bethanylb.edu.

Bethany Visit Day Dec. 1

Bethany College invites prospective students and their families to the Lindsborg campus for Winter Preview Day on Dec. 1. At the event, students will meet faculty and current students, learn about Bethany majors and extra-curricular activities, tour the campus and have lunch in the college cafeteria. To register or for more information, call the college at (800) 826-2281 or go to www.bethanylb.edu.

New Forensic Science Major Approved

At its Oct. 27 meeting, the Bethany College Board of Directors approved the creation of a forensic science major at the college.

“There are already students who have chosen this as a contract major. Current student interest in all things connected with forensic science is very high, and students who are applying show increasing interest in forensic science. Given this, and the fact that not many other schools in Kansas offer a forensic science major, we feel that this program will serve Bethany well,” said Eugene Bales, academic vice president.

Students accepted into the program will take a wide variety of classes in fields including biology, chemistry, math, criminal justice, physics, psychology and anthropology, and complete a forensic science practicum. Graduates will then be prepared for careers in forensic science, work in laboratory sciences and technology, and graduate study in scientific disciplines.

Save the Date for Church Night

Congregations are invited to attend Bethany’s annual Church Night at basketball games Jan. 12 in Hahn Gymnasium on the Bethany campus.

Those who bring a worship-service bulletin will receive free admission to the evening games. This special event is open to all ages.

“This is a way for Bethany to provide family entertainment and to thank area churches for their support of Bethany College and its students,” said Bethany College Campus Pastor Noni Strand.

The event will feature special entertainment, games, prizes and a reception for those attending.

Bethany College men’s and women’s basketball teams will play Ottawa College Jan. 12. The women’s varsity game begins at 5 p.m. with the men’s varsity game to follow.
