EBE provides a way for students to learn and earn credit from out-of-the-classroom experiences in a career-related environment. Students complete EBE projects to explore career options, to gain experience in a chosen career field, to develop transferable skills, to learn by doing, and to establish future career networks.
The EBE program is administered by the Office of Career Services. Assistance is given in finding organizational settings, writing resumes, and preparing for interviews. Once an EBE project is completed, the Director of Career Services helps the student evaluate the project and plan future career development activities.
To receive college credit for an EBE project, a student must (1) have a satisfactory record of experience performed at the EBE site, and (2) make an adequate evaluation of what has been learned during the EBE experience in a written journal and oral review meeting. For each EBE project, a student must have a faculty sponsor.
EBE Credit and Tuition: EBE projects may be done during fall or spring semesters, January Interterm, or summer sessions. Up to 15 semester hours of EBE credit can be earned toward graduation requirement. The student must spend 50 clock hours at the EBE setting for each credit hour earned. A maximum of 12 hours may be earned during a semester, 6 during summer sessions, and 4 during Interterm. With consent from the department head, a maximum of four credit hours may be for 300 level credit. All hours are recorded as pass/fail. Tuition cost for EBE credit is the same as for all other credit for that particular term. |
