JOB DESCRIPTION - OFFICE ASSISTANT
College Relations, Bethany College
POSITION TITLE: Office Assistant
SUPERVISOR: Director of College Relations
FUNCTIONS: To assist the Director of Communications with press releases, database management, newspaper clippings and other office duties
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Ø Manage and update media address database
Ø Write and send press releases as directed
Ø Post releases online
Ø Copy-edit a variety of publications
Ø Clip and file newspapers
Ø Check facts
Ø Perform other duties as assigned
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Ø 6-8 hours/week during school year; schedule is flexible
Ø Full year's commitment desired because of the training involved
QUALIFICATIONS:
Ø Experience in writing and/or journalism, or strong written and verbal communication skills
Ø Computer word processing and data entry skills
Ø Highly responsible, accurate, and respectful of confidential materials
Ø Ability to be self-motivated and creative
Ø Ability to learn quickly and take directions
Ø Minimum cumulative Bethany GPA of 2.5 preferred
STANDARDS OF PERFORMANCE:
Ø Periodic evaluation by the Director of Communications
