I was born, am living, and have not yet died, which means that I, like all readers of this bio, am on life's way. My fascination in life is the study of the meaning of this way in light of faith and other fields from science to music and art. My early years were spent in the Midwest, in Kansas City, Missouri. I graduated from Harvard College with a degree in Chemistry and Physics, received my Degree from Union Theological Seminary in New York, served two congregations in Kansas, returned to graduate study at the Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago where I earned Th.M. and Ph.D. degrees in Systematic Theology, and have been at Bethany since 1984 as campus pastor and professor of religion. My wife and I have two grown and married daughters and live in Lindsborg. Among our many interests, we enjoy teaching, being with friends, travel, books, and bridge.
