Standards for Admission

The preferred deadline for applying to Bethany College is June 15.  Admission decisions are made beginning October 1 on a rolling basis; candidates are notified as soon as their completed application and supportive materials have been received and evaluated.

Students seeking admission to Bethany must meet two of the following three criteria: minimum grade point average of 2.5 (based on a 4.0 scale); score a minimum of 19 on the ACT (890 SAT); or rank in the top 50 percent of their graduating high school class.

Students are admitted for either the fall or spring semester.  Acceptance to the fall term also approves enrollment in the prior summer session, provided that all required forms and the tuition deposit are received before May 15.

Spring semester acceptance also approves enrollment in the Interterm session, provided that all required forms and the tuition deposit are received by December 15.

Application Requirements for Freshmen and Transfers

If you are interested in completing the admissions process, we offer four options for your consideration.  The first option involves completing our on-line Application for Admission and Scholarship. Please keep in mind that supportive information is still required and must be submitted in the traditional fashion.

Before completing the on-line application, please read the following Admissions information.  When you have completed the entire form, send us your information by clicking once on the "Submit" button located on the bottom of the form.  To clear the form, click once on the "Reset" button. There is not a processing fee when applying online.

Our second option is to print out the Application for Admission and Scholarship from our Downloadable Forms, complete the application and return by regular mail with the necessary supportive information. Include the $20 nonrefundable processing fee made payable to Bethany College.

The third option is the most traditional, simply call or write the Office of Admissions to request an admissions packet, which you can complete and return.  Our contact information is located at the bottom of this page.

The
fourth option is to fill out a Bethany College Online Application through Kansas Mentor. Just follow the directions at that site.

Official transcripts from all high school and college course work.  Official transcripts must be sent directly from the school to Bethany College.

Official test scores from either the American College Test Assessment (ACT) or the College Board Scholastic Assessment Test (SAT).

A campus visit and interview are encouraged.  However, you may be required to interview and submit a written essay if the Admission Committee feels that your credentials need further reviewing.

Swedes Legacy Plan

If your parents or grandparents are Bethany alumni or if a sibling is an alum or a current Bethany student, and if you meet the academic requirements for admission, you are eligible for the Swedes Legacy Plan.  The primary feature of this program is acceptance notification by February 15 for participants who submit a completed application (with supportive materials) by January 15.  Priority freshmen housing and course registration are guaranteed for all students accepted through the Swedes Legacy Plan.

Campus Visits and Interviews

We invite you to visit Bethany College to see the campus and meet faculty and students.  An interview with an Admissions Officer is highly encouraged, as this is an opportunity to exchange information and discuss your education options.  Overnight accommodations are available.  Please call for arrangements two weeks in advance of your visit (1-800-826-2281).

Housing Assignments

After receiving your letter of acceptance, you may apply for your residence hall choice by submitting the $100 tuition deposit and Housing Registration Form.  Housing is guaranteed to students who deposit by August 1.  First choice residence halls are honored on a "first-come, first-served" basis.  After August 1, housing is assigned on a "space available" basis.

Enrolling at Bethany College

To confirm your enrollment, by August 1 you must submit:
The $100 tuition deposit;
A completed
Housing Registration form;
