Janice Esses has been the head women’s softball coach at Bethany College since spring 2002. Since then, she has amassed 302 career victories, three regular KCAC championships, two KCAC tournament championships, and three NAIA Regional Tournament appearances and led Bethany’s to its first ever NAIA National Softball Tournament appearance in 2012 and another in 2013.  Esses’ teams not only excel on the softball field, but also in the classroom. Esses has coached 37 NAIA All-Scholar athletes and her squad led the NAIA with the most All-Scholar athletes in 2008 and 2009.

Prior to coaching at Bethany, Esses was a two-sport student at Bethany, playing basketball and softball. In 2000 and 2001, she was awarded first team All-KCAC as a catcher and was selected as the team’s MVP her senior year. Esses earned her bachelor’s degree in biology.
