Admissions Process
To be considered for admissions international students have to meet the following requirements:
I. Academic Achievement
Students interested in Bethany must have a minimum grade point average of 2.5 (based on a 4.0 scale); and/or a minimum of 19 on the ACT (or SAT equivalent).
Please submit an official or attested copy of your secondary school and college academic record showing courses and grades received; mark sheets; examination certificates; and/or leaving certificate, as appropriate for the country's educational system. These documents must be submitted whether or not an ACT or SAT has been submitted.
One must submit all official transcripts from all secondary schools, college, or universities that have been attended.
All documents must be translated in English and notarized. Translations must be as literal as possible, with no attempt to translate information into the U.S. educational system.
II. English Proficiency
International Students should be able to read, speak and write English fluently. All applicants for whom English is a second language must present evidence of proficiency in the English language in one of the following ways:
1. An official TOEFL score of 525 (on the paper test) or 71 (Internet Based Testing method) or higher.
Scores over two years old by the beginning of the term you wish to enter are not acceptable unless you have been attending school in the United States since the test date.
Please note:
- Native speakers of English from Australia, English speaking provinces of Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom will not be required to submit a TOEFL score. Instead, a minimum score of 19 on the ACT (or SAT equivalent) will need to be submitted.
- Non-native speakers of English who have graduated from high school where the language of instruction is English will not be required to submit a TOEFL score. Instead, a minimum score of 19 on the ACT (or SAT equivalent) will need to be submitted.
- The Dean of Admissions has the right to waive the TOEFL requirement for students presenting a grade of B or better in an introductory composition class from an accredited U.S. college or university. A minimum score of 19 on the ACT (or SAT equivalent) will need to be submitted.
- An international student with a TOEFL below 525 will be reviewed on an individual basis by the Admissions Committee and the Dean of Admissions for consideration for admission. Additional documentation of English proficiency may be requested.

2. Secondary school work in the United States, including completion of the high school curricular requirements required for freshman admission. One must submit official transcripts from all secondary schools that have been attended. A minimum score of 19 on the ACT (or SAT equivalent) will also need to be submitted.
III. Financial Documents
All students must be able to demonstrate financial ability to pay for their academic and living expenses before being issued an immigration document.
Appropriate documents reflecting financial ability include one or a combination of the following:
- Bank statement on official bank letterhead indicating sufficient funds to cover the cost stated above; the bank statement should be stamped or signed by a bank official.
- Affidavit of Sponsor form submitted by you or your sponsor and accompanied by an official bank statement. This form can be downloaded or emailed to you by request.
- Scholarship letter from sponsoring organization indicating dates, amounts, and terms of sponsorship.
Financial documents are needed for immigration purposes only and do not affect the admission decision.
Transfer Students:
International Students transferring from an institution in the United States must satisfy the admission requirement of U.S. students transferring Bethany College. All official transcripts from all colleges or universities that have been attended must be submitted to Bethany College for review. They will also be required to demonstrate financial ability to pay for their academic and living expenses as described above.

Deadlines
The preferred deadline for applying to Bethany College is April 15 for fall semester, and September 15 for spring semester. Admission decisions are made on a rolling basis; candidates are notified as soon as their completed application and supportive materials have been received and evaluated.
Spring semester acceptance also approves enrollment in the Interterm session, provided that all required forms and the tuition deposit are received by December 15.
=================================
The following items will help you to complete the application process.
- Please answer all questions on the admission application form. If a question does not apply to you, please answer with N/A (not applicable). Sign the application to certify accuracy and completeness. An incomplete application may delay processing.
- Use your complete legal name (as on your passport) on the application and all other documents sent to Bethany College. Check to be sure that your name is the same on all documents that you will be submitting. Oftentimes, students spell their names in different ways or use more than one name, which makes it difficult to identify their records. Have your home address from your home country included, so that it is the same on all documents.
- Arrange to have the required test results sent to us by the testing agency.
- If you have completed university-level courses in your home country, you may receive credit for them. To be considered for credit, you must submit official transcripts (mark sheets) that indicate the length of the course, the course title, and the number of hours spent in class each week. Also please send a syllabus or a catalog describing the content of the courses you took at the university level.
- Bethany College requires that transcripts (mark sheets) be written in the official language of the school. If this language is not English, the documents must be sent with a certified English translation.
- Follow up. After several weeks but before the application deadline, contact International Admissions to make sure your application is complete and that your official documents have been received.
