Music Department Mission
The mission of the Bethany College Music Department is to nurture, challenge and guide developing musicians, to train the future educators for both classroom and studio areas, and to provide performance opportunities for students, faculty, and community members. In addition, the Music Department strives to educate and engage audience members in the central Kansas region and beyond.
Student Learning Outcomes- Goals and Objectives:
Goal #1
Students will demonstrate artistic Growth through individual and ensemble performance.
Objective #1
Students will demonstrate musical growth
through solo study and performance.
Objective #2
Majors will demonstrate developed musicality and solo performance skills in public performance.
Objective #3
Students will demonstrate musical growth through ensemble performance.
Goal #2
Students will demonstrate basic knowledge of music theory and history commensurate to the undergraduate level.
Goal #3
Majors and minors will demonstrate fundamental keyboard skills.
Goal #4
Students entering or completing a music major will demonstrate musical and academic skills commensurate to their level.
Objective #1
Students entering a musical performance, music teaching, or sacred music major will demonstrate the musical and academic skills required for intensive study in those areas.
Objective #2
Music majors (performance, teaching, sacred music, and liberal arts) nearing completion of their degree will demonstrate musical knowledge and performance consistent with a bachelor's degree in music.
