Scholarships and Awards
 

Bethany offers a competitive scholarship and awards program recognizing students for past achievement and potential for future success. Scholarships and awards will be offered to students based on a complete review of the student's application.

Bethany's priority deadline for Financial Aid is March 1st. 

To meet the priority deadline, incoming students need to have the following items completed by March 1st:

  • Acceptance to Bethany
  • Have a valid FAFSA on file in the financial aid office
  • Complete all try-outs, auditions, interviews, or portfolio reviews.

To meet the priority deadline, current students need to have a valid FAFSA on file by March 1st.

For Students New to Bethany

The following scholarships and awards are open for application to students applying to Bethany for admission for 2012-2013.

Bethanian Scholarship — Full Tuition
There are three Bethanian Scholarships awarded to incoming students each year.  Bethanian Scholarships are renewable for four-years as long as the student is enrolled full-time and remains in good standing with the college.  Students must be present to compete on the scheduled day and must meet the following requirements:

  • 3.5 GPA or above (on a 4.0 scale)
  • 25 or above ACT composite score (or equivalent SAT score)
  • Top 1/4 of your class

Academic Merit Scholarships
These scholarships are offered to eligible incoming students. They are renewable as long as the student stays in good standing with the College. The only application required is the application for admission and scholarship.

Criteria for Freshmen:

  • 3.0 GPA or 21 ACT or 990 SAT awarded up to $7,500 ($6,000 off-campus)
  • 3.5 GPA or 24 ACT or 1110 SAT awarded up to $9,000 ($7,500 off-campus)
  • 4.0 GPA or 30 ACT or 1340 SAT awarded up to $10,500 ($9,000 off-campus

Criteria for Transfers:

  • 3.0 GPA will receive from $7,500 ($6,000 off-campus)
  • 3.5 GPA will receive from $9,000 ($7,500 off-campus)
  • 4.0 GPA will receive from $10,500 ($9,000 off-campus)

Bethany Legacy Award - $1,000
Awarded to incoming students who have siblings attending Bethany currently or whose parents, siblings or grandparents have graduated from Bethany. This award cannot be stacked with the Lutheran Legacy Award. It is renewable as long as the student stays in good standing with the college. Qualifying students need to provide the full name and graduation year of the sibling, parent, or grandparent to the Office of Financial Aid.

Lutheran Legacy Award - $1,000
Awarded to incoming students whose siblings are currently attending a Lutheran college or whose parents, siblings or grandparents have graduated from a Lutheran college. This award cannot be stacked with the Bethany Legacy Award. It is renewable as long as the student stays in good standing with the college. Qualifying students need to provide the full name, college, and graduation year of the sibling, parent, or grandparent to the Office of Financial Aid.

Church Scholarship Match
Incoming students who bring in a scholarship from their church will be awarded a matching scholarship of up to $500. The Church Scholarship Match will be added to the student's aid pacage once the scholarship from their church is received in Bethany's Office of Financial Aid.

Aid for non-traditional students
Bethany believes pursuing a four-year degree should be attainable at any time in your life. Therefore, we offer Bethany Grants and Supplemental Grants to help our non-traditional students who may not fit into the "traditional" scholarship matrix. To be considered, students need to fill out the application for admission and scholarship and submit a FAFSA.

Honors Program Scholarships
Honors Program Scholarships are awarded to students who are accepted into the Honors Program and are renewable as long as the student stays active and in good standing with the college. Interested students need to contact the Honors Program chair to discuss the application.

Servant Leadership Awards
These awards are offered to incoming students who have demonstrated significant involvement in servant leadership activities throughout their high school or college career and plan to make continued involvement in servant leadership a top priority. Award amounts are based on the strength of the application. Awards are renewable as long as the student meets renewal criteria and stays in good standing with the college.

For Students New to Bethany and Those Currently Attending

The following scholarships and awards are open for application to both students applying to Bethany for admission for 2011-2013 as well as those who are currently attending. It is possible for students to receive awards in up to two areas.

Fine Arts Awards
Fine arts awards are offered to selected students who qualify in the areas of music, art, and theatre. Interested students need to contact faculty to set up a portfolio review or audition. Award amount and renewability is at the discretion of the head of the program, and students need to be in good standing with the college.

Athletic Awards
Athletic awards are offered to selected students who participate in our athletic programs. Interested students need to contact the coach for more information. Award amount and renewability is at the discretion of the head coach, and students need to be in good standing with the college. Please see our athletic site for program and contact information.

For Students Currently Attending Bethany

The following scholarships and awards are open for application only to students currently attending Bethany.

Partners in Scholarship — $1,000
Students selected will work one-on-one with a faculty member on a designated research project. For each year of involvement in this project, students will receive three credit hours toward their degree by enrolling in a Directed Independent Study. Interested students should talk to their academic advisor.
