Bow Safety and Care

Bow care and maintanence plays a vital role in successful bow hunting. Without the proper maintanence your bow will lose velocity, cause your sights to be off, make your draw back stiffer, and can cause serious injury if your string was to snap. Bow strings are the most important of all safety and care checkpoints. Your bow string should be changed every other year. During the years that you are using a bow string you should wax it constantly because it can become dry and frayed. The next checkpoint would be your limbs. Always make sure that your limbs are tight and not loose, this will allow your velocity on your arrows to stay the same and keep your sights dead on accurate. As long as you keep these two main checkpoints well maintained it will make your bow shooting experience a lot safer.

Now there are many accessories that you can buy for your bow. There are objects known as limbsavers that attach to the limbs to dampen vibrations that will cause the limbs to become loose. Silencers are either rubber or cloth strips that tie around the top and bottom of your bow string that dampen vibrations that your string creates. These are usually used during hunting so if you miss, the vibration of the string will not scare off your game. Also there are many different types of sights that you can purchase for your bow, as well as stabilizers which help balance your bow during a shot.
