LINDSBORG, KAN., May 2, 2012— The Bethany College/Lindsborg Community Orchestra will present its final concert of the season, featuring student conductors Sarah Schaeffer and Nickolas Carlson, on Sunday, May 6, at 7:30 p.m. in Presser Auditorium.
The event is free and open to the public.The orchestra will open with a performance of Beethoven’s “Overture to Fidelio” conducted by Nickolas Carlson, Lindsborg, Kan., junior organ performance major. The concert will continue with Mozart’s first movement of “Symphony No. 40 in G minor” conducted by Sarah Schaeffer, Centennial, Colo., instrumental music teaching major. The Bethany College Chamber Strings will also perform Mendelssohn’s “Sinfonie in D.” The concert concludes with Schubert’s “Symphony No. 8 in B minor.”
The Bethany College/Lindsborg Community Orchestra, conducted by Richard Koshgarian, is a full symphonic orchestra comprised of students and community members. This group performs four full concerts each year. Many of the orchestra members also perform during the annual Messiah Festival of the Arts.
