Bethany welcomes Daniel Dentino, Ph.D., as new dean for student life

Daniel DentinoLINDSBORG, KAN., August 8, 2012— Bethany College has hired Daniel Dentino, Ph.D., as the new dean for student life.

Dentino will be responsible for developing and maintaining a campus environment that is complementary to and consistent with the educational mission of the college. He will also play a key role in support of the college’s retention goals. Dentino will also oversee all aspects of student life at Bethany, including the management of residence life, student activities, counseling services, international student services, new student orientation, health services, leadership development, and student clubs and organizations.

“I see my role as joining with the students as they journey towards graduation,” says Dentino. “I am deeply committed to student success; in the classroom, on the field, and in the residence hall. My passion is helping students achieve their full potential. They deserve nothing less.”

Dentino comes from Ave Maria University in Ave Maria, Fla., where he has been the vice president for student affairs and dean of students since 2001. He brings over 15 years of experience in higher education as an administrator and professor, having also served Duquesne University, Providence College, and the Franciscan University of Steubenville.

Dentino has taught a variety of theological courses and published numerous works. He has been a volunteer football coach for several schools as well as at soup kitchens and Big Brothers Big Sisters. He was honored as a Refiner’s Fire Excellence in Teaching Award finalist, recipient of the Naples Illustrated Magazine “The Power of Ten” Award, and recipient of the Gulfshore Business Magazine “40 Under 40” award.

“Dan is bringing a wealth of experience and energy to the position,” says Provost and Dean of the College Kenneth Macur. “He has many years of leadership and management in student life at faith-based institutions. He will challenge and support students and staff to achieve great things. I anticipate a very transformed division of student life.”
