Bethany College senior artist Alexandria DeLong will exhibit her senior art show, “Caesura,” at Mingenback Art Center on campus from May 2 to 7.
A reception will be held on Sunday, May 5, from 2 to 4 p.m. with a gallery talk by the artist at 2:30 p.m. The exhibition and reception are free and open to the public
DeLong, from Admire, Kan., is majoring in art education preK-12 with a double focus in ceramics and painting. This exhibition will consist of her recent work unveiling the passion and attentiveness she conveys within her creative process.
DeLong is currently creating large non-objective paintings, emphasizing the relationship of color and space. In her ceramic work, DeLong focuses on the aspect of functional pottery, especially mugs and bowls. She is pushing her capability with the variation of her form and character of each piece. DeLong’s work emphasizes flexibility and reacting with each step of the process, both in painting and ceramics. Movement is a constant within the concept of her artwork and has deeply influenced her current path of making.
