Katie Laier welcomed as new dean of admissions and financial aid

Katie LaierBethany College welcomes Katie Laier, M.Ed., as the new dean for admissions and financial aid.

Laier will begin in November and will be responsible for leading the admissions and financial aid team and developing strategies for sustaining enrollment growth.

“Bethany College is full of energy, excitement, and wonderful opportunities,” says Laier. “This is a great time to be at Bethany, and I’m excited to join the admissions and financial aid team as well as the entire community.”

Laier comes to Bethany from Ferris State University, where she was the academic advisor and recruiter for the RN to BSN Completion program. She brings over 13 years of experience in recruitment, including as associate director for recruitment at Manchester University, where she led the admissions team that recruited the largest class in 25 years and increased the transfer student population by 120 percent, Adrian College, Lourdes College, and Mid Michigan Community College.

Laier has been honored with the Emerging Leader Award by the Michigan Association for College Admissions Counseling. She earned her Master of Education specializing in enrollment management from Capella University and Bachelor of Arts in human services from Adrian College.

The dean of admissions and financial aid is a newly created position as the result of restructuring Bethany’s recruitment and marketing offices. Admissions and financial aid now report to the Provost and Dean of the College Kenneth M. Macur, Ph.D., to provide singular leadership to recruitment via the Admissions Office and Athletics Department and retention via the Division of Student Development.

“We are excited about the energy and experience that Katie brings to the table,” says Macur. “She will be hitting the ground running to work on bringing in the class of 2014 while simultaneously strategizing to bring in the class of 2015.”
