Bethany College is the recipient of an $80,000 grant from the Sunderland Foundation to replace the roof over the auditorium of Presser Hall. This award is one of the largest ever received by Bethany from the foundation and will be gifted over two years.
“We are excited to receive this grant from the Sunderland Foundation as a confirmation of the importance of Presser Hall to Bethany College and the region,” said President Edward F. Leonard III.
The auditorium of Presser Hall built in 1929 seats close to 1,800 people, and is where school begins and ends with convocation and graduation. Students and community come to experience homecoming events, speakers, music recitals, band and choral events as well as The Messiah Festival in Presser Hall Auditorium. The Thomson-Mingenback Concert Organ, one of the largest organs in the Central United States, is also located in the auditorium.
The Sunderland Foundation has been a long-time supporter of Bethany College since the late 1960s, and Bob Sunderland served on the Bethany Board of Directors from 1971 to 1980.
