Business Professor Angela Martin and Bethany College Business students help register Girl Scouts for “Cookie College.”

The Bethany College Business Club traveled to Kansas Wesleyan University on January 23 to host Cookie College. Cookie College is a program sponsored by Girl Scouts of Kansas Heartland that positions girls for success in the business world and in their cookie endeavors.

Participants strengthened the five skills they learn through the Girl Scout Cookie Program: goal setting, decision making, money management, people skills, and business ethics. Girls in the fourth through eighth grades rotated through sessions to learn about these valuable life skills and begin to plan for their own cookie business. Thirteen members of the Business Club provided all the programming and content for Cookie College and were excited to for the opportunity to utilize the business and people skills they have been learning.  This included developing all the breakout sessions, management of the schedule, and development of a dynamic opening skit.

The Business Club members included: Lizzie Benoit, Mariah Harris, Josh Hickok, Cody Harris, Kierstin Stolley, Araceli Aburto, Derek Johns, Alyssa Winterfeld, Alanna Lustfield, Luis Medina, Melissa Olson, Tanner Wallace and Jalena Todd. The Business Club sponsor is Angela Martin.
