Cory Odell, adjunct professor of criminal justice, was recently named “Police Officer of the Year” by the City of Junction City, Kansas. Professor Odell teaches online for the Criminal Justice Department at Bethany College. Odell serves as detective sergeant with the Junction City Police Department and is currently assigned as the Crime Scene Unit Supervisor. He was awarded the Larry D. Welch Award for Academic Excellence upon graduation from the police academy.
Professor earns award
Professor Odell earned his B.A. in criminal justice from Kansas Wesleyan University and his M.S. in criminal justice administration from the University of Cincinnati. Dr. Brian Kinnaird, chair of the Department of Criminal Justice, offered that Odell is a “testament to the badge and to his commitment beyond the badge. We are very fortunate to have him aboard as we move forward in educating future sheepdogs from Bethany College.”
