Dr. Daniel Masterson, professor of music and department co-chair, attended the Music Teachers National Association Conference held April 2-6 in San Antonio, Texas. Masterson, as the Kansas Music Teachers Association President, represented Kansas at the State Associations meetings.
Besides business meetings, the conference featured many sessions from master teachers and pedagogues, publisher showcases, new technologies for teacher studios, and the finals of MTNA competitions of separate middle school, high school, and collegiate plans for each: piano, piano duets, solo voice, woodwinds, brass, and chamber groups.
Says Masterson, “The most inspiring moments were hearing the winners recitals of the different levels, and the guest artists that were evening highlight events. Also, I was impressed by the Kansas contingency that attended. Kansas is well-represented on the national level with people in key leadership positions, and a number of highly involved teachers who enjoy the camaraderie and inspiration that comes from conferences such as this.”
