Ali Shahryar, a junior offensive lineman for the Swedes football team, was named the Dr. Ted Kessinger Champion of Character Award winner by the KCAC. Shahryar, from Yorba Linda, California, is the first Swede to earn this award since it began in 2004.

The honor is voted on by the 10 KCAC head football coaches from a pool of nominees and recognizes student-athletes that exhibit the NAIA five core values of respect, integrity, responsibiity, servant leadership, and sportsmanship.
