Bethany Senior Kristen Hanks and Junior Landon Slipke have been selected for the Kansas Department of Education’s Teacher of Promise award for their professional commitment, achievement, and leadership while in their teacher preparation programs. The award, given at the Kansas Teacher of the Year Banquet in November, is one of several honors presented by the Kansas Department of Education to help recruit and retain the best Kansas teachers for Kansas children. Kristin and Landon participated in a staff development workshop conducted by the current eight finalists for the Kansas Teacher of the Year program prior to the evening banquet held in Wichita. Kristen, from Wakeeney, Kansas, is a mathematics education major, and Landon, from New Almelo, Kansas, is a music education major.
