The Bethany College Department of Art and Mingenback Art Center Gallery presents a senior art exhibition by Jovi Carpenter beginning March 12 through March 24, 2017. There will be a reception on Sunday, March 12, from 2- 4 p.m., with a gallery talk at 2:30 p.m.
Draftsman, Jovi Carpenter, started drawing Marvel superheroes at nine years old in Ottawa, Kansas. For Carpenter, drawing is an outlet that allows one to escape and be whatever and whomever they want to be. His expressive process develops over time and through effort. Whether the emotions are happy, sad, or angry it can make a huge difference in the mark on the paper. “The drawing is a part of me in the way that I am very connected to my own personal experience.” His drawings give insight to an emotional narrative expressed through charcoal and graphite.
This event is free and open to the public. Mingenback Art Center Gallery, located at the corner of Olsson and Second Streets in Lindsborg, is open daily Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. For further information please contact the Art Department at 785-227-3380, ext. 8244 or by email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
