Tim Boller, representing the Lindsborg American Legion Post 140, presented Bethany President Will Jones with an American flag to fly over campus. Bethany flies flags from the United States, Kansas, and Sweden on the main flag poles on the Promenade of Flags.

“It was very needed,” President Jones said of the flag. “Our flags are out every day and the Kansas wind can take its toll on them.”

A new Swedish flag was also recent donated to the school by Bruce Karstadt ’73, President and CEO of the American Swedish Institute in Minneapolis.

The Lindsborg American Legion contributes to the community in many ways, according to Boller. The Legion properly disposes of American flags and collects cans to help raise money for the Honor Flight Program, a non-profit program that helps military veterans visit war memorials in Washington D.C. In appreciate of its donation to the school, President Jones encourages people to donate cans to the Legion. Drop-off receptacles for cans and for worn out flags are located outside of the Legion Post at 524 East State Street.
