24-hours – Boom! – that’s it.

The Bethany College Theatre Department announces the Return of the 24-Hour Plays at Bethany. Twenty-four (all too) short hours to write, rehearse, and perform a set of brand new short plays. It has been done across the country and around world since 1995. Bethany College premiered its version back in 2015 and will do it again beginning on Friday, May 5 through Saturday May 6 at the Burnett Center on the Bethany campus.

The fun will begin on Friday at 6 p.m. when the playwrights, actors, directors and technicians gather for instructions. Random drawings will pair directors with playwrights, actors with directors and the order in which plays will be performed on Saturday night. Playwrights will then receive a prompt, a prop, and one line to begin writing their original play over the next 12 hours.

The writing stops at 7:30 a.m. Saturday, when the directors and stage managers arrive to receive their plays. Actors and technicians join in and rehearsals continue throughout the day. The lights go up on the new plays at 7:30 p.m. Saturday.

Places are available for playwrights, actors, directors, stage managers, technicians and crew members. Registration is required and has been extended. For more information contact Professor Greg LeGault at legaultg@bethanylb.edu.
