Duke Rogers, assistant professor of business and economics and co-chair of the business department at Bethany College, is among the first cohort to graduate from the Kansas Aspiring Leaders program. The program developed by the Kansas Independent College Association (KICA), will hold a graduation ceremony in Lindsborg for the class on March 17.

The leadership academy is a one-year, comprehensive training program that focuses on all aspects of higher education administration and leadership including enrollment and growth strategies, retention, budgeting, financial management, and strategic planning. Along with his faculty duties, Professor Rogers also serves as the director of assessment at Bethany College.

According to KICA, the Leadership Academy grew out of conversations among college presidents seeking leadership-training opportunities for division or department chairs and deans.

“The program enhanced and gave me much broader exposure to more specific areas of higher education administration,” Professor Rogers said. “It was a great opportunity for me and well worth my time. I would recommend this training to both faculty and staff if the opportunity came available for them.”
