Bethany College alumnus James Bowden will explore the meaning of global citizenship in two lectures at the college on April 13. He will speak to students in the Quest 4 – Global Sustainability class at 8:10 a.m. and to biology students at 9:15 a.m. Both lectures will take place in the Pearson Chapel and the public is invited to attend.

A 2009 graduate, Bowden was a Peace Corps volunteer in Panama from the summer of 2014 through the summer of 2016. He worked specifically in agricultural sustainability, helping a small indigenous community, Alto Cedro from the province of Bocas Del Toro. Bowden worked with the community to grow, process, and market cacao.

In his lectures at the college, he will introduce the Peace Corps (its purpose and how it works), explore the meaning of global citizenship (as experienced through his Peace Corps work), and describe ecological and agricultural sustainability of Panama.
