Bethany College Senior Esther Boado will exhibit her art in the Mingenback Art Center Gallery beginning May 13 through May 18. An opening reception will be held on Sunday, May 14 from 2 to 4 p.m. with a gallery talk at 2:30 p.m.

An illustrator and graphic designer, Esther Boado, of Davao City, Philippines, has loved drawing ever since she could hold a pencil. Growing up, watching Disney movies and Saturday morning cartoons heavily influenced her “doodles” and cartoony figures. Her body of work boasts different mixed media styles involving illustrations on digital imagery of her own manipulation, doodles on magazine pages, and graphic design brand identity work. In contrast to her illustrated work, her graphic design process demonstrates an organic approach while preserving a clean and commercial appeal.

She states, “My ambition is to give my viewers a glance into my stream of consciousness through my series of doodles.” Many of Esther’s illustrations and paintings portray a myriad of characters in a space that cannot be completely explained, but is rather left to the viewer’s own imagination.

The gallery exhibit and reception are free and open to the public. Mingenback Art Center Gallery, located at the corner of Olsson and Second Streets in Lindsborg, is open daily Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. For further information, please contact the Bethany Art Department at 785-227-3380, ext. 8244 or by email: artdepartment@bethanylb.edu.
