Melody Steed, assistant academic dean and organist at Bethany College, will perform an organ duo concert in Presser Hall on Sunday, May 7 at 3 p.m. with Ann-Marie Rigler.

Rigler, professor of music and college organist at Will Jewell College in Liberty, Kansas, will join Steed in a program that features the works of Naji Hakim, David Briggs, Emma Lou Diemer, Kenneth Leighton, Gwyneth Walker, and Gustav Merkel. Their concert will be in preparation for a program they will perform for the Musforum conference for women organists in Omaha, Nebraska in June.

In addition to her administrative role at the college, Steed teaches organ, coordinates the sacred music program and directs the Bethany Handbell Ensemble. She is an active recitalist and performs at regional and national conventions of the American Guild of Organists and the International Trumpet Guild. Along with trumpeter, Keith Benjamin, she performs as the trumpet/organ duo, Clarion.

At William Jewell College, Rigler plays weekly for Chapel services and teaches organ and piano, music history, and courses in Christian worship practices and hymnody. She is a strong advocate for young organists and serves on the New Music Community and the Steering Committee for the 2018 National Young Artists Competition in Organ Performance for the American Guild of Organists. She maintains an active schedule as a solo recitalist, presenter, choral accompanist, chamber musician, and adjudicator across the United States.

The concert is free and the public is invited to attend.
