The Bethany College Department of Art and Mingenback Art Center Gallery presents a senior art exhibition by Sara Warren entitled “Embodied Conflict” to be exhibited from May 7 through May 11, 2017. There will be a reception on Sunday, May 7, from 2 to 4 p.m., with a gallery talk at 2:30 p.m.
Artist, Sara Warren, of Arlington, Virginia and Salina, Kansas, makes evocative paintings, sculptures, and other works using the human form as her subject. Her interest in art began at an early age when drawing, painting, and sculpting were introduced. She uses a vivid color palette and raw, gestural marks in all mediums bringing life to her work in order to express the emotionally driven, multifaceted nature of human existence. Warren states, “I hope to express that people can fulfill multiple roles even if they may feel conflicting, like sexuality and maternity, or ferocity and gentleness.” She hopes to evoke an emotional response from the viewer by using the figure as a means to represent an individual facet of personality.
This event is free and open to the public. Mingenback Art Center Gallery, located at the corner of Olsson and Second streets in Lindsborg, is open daily Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. For further information please contact the Art Department at 785-227-3380, ext. 8244 or by email: email@example.com.
