Bethany College has hired Ryan Van Dusen, Ph.D., to serve as Dean of Student Development beginning July 1, 2017. Van Dusen has nearly two decades of student development experience.

As dean of student development, Van Dusen will oversee residence life, career development, student activities, counseling services, spiritual life, campus safety and health services and provide leadership to the professionals in those areas. Dane Pavlovich has been serving in this position and as dean of athletics for the past two years.

“Ryan comes to Bethany College with a great deal of experience and our students will benefit from his leadership,” President William Jones said. “He understands the importance and quality of education that Bethany provides. He will help our students become successful professionals who love God and love people.”

Van Dusen has been the associate dean of students at the University of Memphis since 2015 and prior to that was director of military and veterans programs at Texas Tech University. He has 15 years of experience working in student life positions and served in the United States Army as an assistant tank commander for four years at Fort Riley, Camp Casey and in Korea.

He earned a doctor of philosophy degree in higher education Texas Tech University in 2011 and has a master of arts in communication studies from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania, a master of business degree from the University of Memphis, and a bachelor of arts in history from Edinboro University.

Van Dusen and his wife have two daughters.
