Former First Lady of Bethany College, Judie Laura Heyne Hahn, 92, passed away peacefully Friday, September 1, 2017 at her residence surrounded by her family. Married to former President Arvin Hahn (1967-1983), Judie was a powerful presence in Lindsborg.
“She was a mover and a shaker,” says Becky (Larson) Anderson ‘69. She loved to show off Lindsborg and Bethany College. She promoted the community tirelessly to show the world this was a special place.”
Judie had a huge impact on the community of Lindsborg, being instrumental in raising the Lindsborg Swedish Folk Dancers to a new level. With her involvement, Judie established the Swedish Folk Dancers as essential ambassadors of Lindsborg.
At the Arvin and Judie Hahn Recognition Dinner in 1983, Judie said, “Bethany people are special. Lindsborg people are special. . . I thank God for leading us to this place so that we can be numbered with the special people of Bethany and Lindsborg, Kansas.”
A memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, September 16, 2017 at the Lutheran Church of the Nativity in Arden at 2:00 PM. Memorial gifts in her name are to Lutheran Church of the Nativity in Arden, North Carolina, Bethany College, and the Lindsborg Swedish Folk Dancers.
