Bethany College has announced the hiring of Molli Morgan as assistant softball coach. Morgan comes to Bethany with one year of collegiate coaching experience following a decorated playing career at Ottawa University.

“I’m honored to be given this opportunity to be part of the Bethany Softball program and the Lindsborg community,” said Morgan. “I’m anxious to use my knowledge as a player and former coach to help this team on and off the field. I’m excited to be back in the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference, and look forward to the upcoming season. Go Swedes!”

Morgan most recently served as assistant softball coach at NCAA Division II Davis & Elkins College in 2017-2018. There, she helped organize practice plans with an emphasis on the pitching staff, and helped coordinate pitching drills along with assisting both infield and outfield. In addition, Morgan assisted with recruiting efforts, compiled scouting reports, and set up volunteer opportunities.

Morgan had an illustrious playing career while at Ottawa, a fellow member of the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KCAC). Her senior year, Morgan was named 2017 KCAC Pitcher of the Year and a 2017 NAIA Second-Team All-American while helping lead Ottawa to the NAIA World Series. She is the Ottawa University record holder for single season wins (33), single season innings pitched (307.2), career pitching wins (51), game starts career innings pitched, and career appearances.

In addition, Morgan was named 1st Team All-KCAC in 2017, 2nd Team All-KCAC in 2016, and Honorable Mention All-KCAC in 2015.

“We are extremely excited to add Molli Morgan to our Swedes Softball coaching staff!” said Head Softball Coach/Assistant Athletic Director Laura Moreno. “Coach Morgan comes from a very good softball program at Ottawa, and had an extremely impressive playing career. We are fortunate that Coach Morgan already has one year of collegiate coaching experience under her belt, and has quality knowledge of the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference as well. She will primarily work with pitchers as well as assist with all other positions, coaching duties, and recruiting. We are thrilled to have Coach Morgan on staff, and cannot wait to see the impact she has in our program.”

Morgan, a native of Paola, Kan., graduated Cum Laude with Distinction Honors from Ottawa University in 2017 with a degree in Exercise Science, emphasis in Allied Health. She maintained a 3.5 grade point average throughout her four years while being a student-athlete, was on the Dean’s List in 2014, 2016, and 2017, and was a 2017 Scholar Athlete.
