LINDSBORG, Kan. – The Bethany College Department of Art and Mingenback Art Gallery presents “Catharsis: Color in Bloom,” a senior student solo exhibition by Kayla Borell. The exhibition runs from April 28 through May 2, 2019. There will be a reception for the artist with a gallery talk on Sunday, April 28, 2 to 4 p.m.
Painter and Ceramic Artist, Kayla Borell, grew up as a farmer’s daughter in Dighton, KS where her artistic inspiration came from appreciation of the land and nature, which now translates into her abstract work. Her work comes to life through bold colors, thick texture, tension in marks, repetitive lines, energetic movement, and open language in the surface. She says, “Tulips are my vehicle that I use to express myself without using the human body; my self-portrait resides in the depth of the materials.” Her colorful organic forms evolve through the idea of catharsis, her emotional release through personal life experiences, memory, and place that are brought to life through oil and clay.
This event is free and open to the public. Mingenback Art Center Gallery, located at the corner of Olsson and Second streets in Lindsborg, is open daily Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. For further information please contact the Art Department at 785-227-3380, ext. 8244 or by email: email@example.com.
