The Academic Center for Excellence (ACE)

The Academic Center for Excellence has an informal setting where students can study and access assistance when they need it. Services available include both Peer and Professional tutoring in a variety of subjects. There are computers, Wi-Fi access, and free printing available. There is plenty of room for group study sessions, and equipment such as headphones and calculators are available.

The Director, Dan Callihan, is a professional tutor for a variety of subjects. He can also help students with study skills, time management, test anxiety, success strategies, and much more.

ACE Peer Tutors are carefully selected students who have successfully completed the courses in which they tutor and enjoy working with other students. In addition, all peer tutors compelte 15 hours of tutor training and have recommendations from Bethany College Faculty.

Walk-ins are welcome! If we don’t have a tutor for your subject, we will hire one!

Study groups are one of the best ways to learn. They give students the opportunity to share notes, find new strategies for learning, prepare for exams, and form friendships with others. If you would like to start or join a study group, contact us and we’ll make arrangements for you.

Hours of Operation

Daily: Monday-Friday: 8:00am – 5:00pm

Evenings: Sunday-Thursday: 7:00pm-10:00pm

Career Services

Career services are also provided by the ACE. We help students compose resumes, write cover letters, and prepare for interviews. We connect students with career opportunities and temporary work, like summer jobs. We even help students choose a major when they are undecided.

Disability Support Services

Disability accommodations level the playing field so that students can compete fairly. Accommodations are not reductions of the course material. If you know you have a disability, get the accommodations you need, so you can compete on an equal footing. If you think you have a disability, please get the documentation so that you can get the help you need.

The ACE also coordinates temporary medical accommodations for those who need them
