Amie Bauer returns to Bethany College after graduating in 2001 with a BA Magna Cum Laude in Communications, and a minor in Administration of Justice (a major was not offered). Amie previously taught as an Adjunct at Bethany and has participated in panels, mock crime scenes, CSI camp and other experience based opportunities for students. Amie watched the Criminal Justice program grow from a minor to a major and believes the Criminal Justice program is more relevant than ever.

While a Bethany student, Amie was Editor of the Bethany Messenger newspaper, served as a student ambassador and co-directed a program for orientation of new students, and selected the BC student leaders who welcomed and assisted students and their families on move- in day in etc., was a member of Gold Key Honorary Society, Dance Team, Student Government, Beta Tau Sigma Academic Society, Sigma Phi Omega and was selected as the Senior Class student graduation speaker. Also at Bethany, Amie interned with two criminal defense lawyers and with the Shawnee County District Attorney’s office. She served as the bailiff in Saline County District Court for out of county cases transferred by a change of venue, one being a capital murder trial; and also served as bailiff for the Kansas Court of Appeals when they traveled to Salina.

Amie attended law school at Washburn School of Law in Topeka, graduating with a J.D. in 2004. While in law school, she participated in Moot Court competitions, received a Faculty Brief Award, was a member of Sam A. Crow Inns of Court, Phi Alpha Delta Legal Fraternity, and Order of Barristers Oral Advocacy Society.  She clerked for Cavanaugh and Lemon, P.A. of Topeka. Amie worked for the McPherson County Attorney office in 2004 and 2005. Since 2005, Amie has worked  at Gusenius Law Office, in Lindsborg. Currently, Amie practices mostly family law and is a Kansas certified domestic Mediator, is a Municipal Court Judge in two cities, and the City Prosecutor in Lindsborg.  Also, in 2005, Amie taught Family Law at Hutchinson Community College.

Amie currently serves on the Smoky Valley community foundation, Bethany College Criminal Justice Advisory Board, is Secretary of the Kansas Municipal Judge Association Board of Directors, and is a member of the Kansas Judges Assistance Committee.
