Marilyn Benyshek began teaching at Bethany College in Spring 2015. She teaches Music Methods for Elementary Teachers and Music Education Methods: PreK & Elementary for the music major.
Benyshek earned her Master of Music Education from Wichita State University in 1985. She completed her Bachelor of Music Education from Fort Hays State University in 1975. Her performance medians are voice, piano, and organ.
Benyshek completed 22 years as an elementary music teacher in 2010 in Salina, USD 305. Prior teaching positions have been in Wichita, Garden City and Chanute, KS in grades K-12 vocal music. She has been a private voice and piano teacher through these years. Benyshek has been with Kansas Wesleyan University as adjunct professor in both the music and education departments, teaching Elementary Music Methods for over 20 years. She has adjudicated 27 years for the Kansas High School Activities Association for vocal solos and small ensembles at Regional and State Music Festivals. For twoy ears, Benyshek was the KMEA State Chair for Elementary Teachers.
Benyshek and her husband live in Salina. They have one daughter who is a pharmacist.
