Bethany College Choirs and Handbell Ensemble to Perform May 15th

LINDSBORG, KAN., May 2, 2022 - The Bethany College Department of Music is pleased to announce the Bethany College Choirs and Handbell Ensemble will give a concert on Sunday, May 15 at 3:00 pm in Presser Hall on the Bethany College Campus. The concert will feature songs the Bethany Choir will present at the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C. on May 29 as part of the National Memorial Day Celebration. 



In Washington D.C. they will join five additional choirs from around the country to present a concert of patriotic music under the direction of Dr. Craig Jessop, former conductor of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir, accompanied by the U.S. Air Force Orchestra, and in conjunction with the Air Force Singing Sergeant's. Dr. Mark Lucas, Associate Professor of Music said, "We are honored to be included in this performance in our nation's capital. We are also excited to include the Bethany Handbell Ensemble in our home concert on May 15."   

The concert on May 15 is free and open to the public.

Bethany College welcomed more than 265 students from 16 high schools across Kansas to campus on October 2 for the annual Bethania Choral Workshop, a tradition that has been inspiring young musicians for more than 15 years.

Dr. Chienyn Chi, Assistant Professor of English at Bethany College (bethanylb.edu), was invited to speak at National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University in Taiwan about her book. The event highlighted interdisciplinary scholarship and global academic collaboration which Dr. Chi is integrating into her teaching at Bethany.
