Bethany College Welcomes Hayley Samford as Director of Alumni Development & Engagement

Lindsborg, KS – April 12, 2024 – Bethany College is pleased to announce the appointment of Hayley Samford as the new Director of Alumni Development & Engagement. In this role, Samford will lead efforts to strengthen connections with Bethany College alumni and foster a vibrant and engaged alumni community.


With a wealth of experience in marketing, community engagement, and nonprofit leadership, Samford brings a unique skill set to Bethany College. Before joining Bethany College, Samford served as the Marketing and Corporate Engagement Manager at Salina Family Healthcare Center, where she played a crucial role in launching the company's new brand and overseeing marketing initiatives. She also brings extensive experience in nonprofit management, having served as the CEO of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Salina.

"With her deep roots in the Smoky Valley area and impressive qualifications, we are confident she will strengthen our alumni network and lead us towards an even brighter future. Her passion for community and commitment to excellence make her a great fit for this vital role."


Samford, a native of the Smoky Valley area, expressed her excitement for the opportunity to support Bethany College and its alum community. "When I graduated college, I wanted nothing more than to return to work in Lindsborg. I'm thrilled that I now get the opportunity to use my time and talents to support Bethany College and do important work in the community that made me who I am," said Samford. "It's exciting to get to know alumni in my new capacity, where many may remember me as the little blonde kid who tagged along with family and friends to all the on-campus events."


Samford's extensive experience in marketing, community engagement, and nonprofit leadership positions her well to lead alumni development and engagement efforts at Bethany College. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Business from Baker University. She has completed certifications in fundraising and management from the Lilly School of Philanthropy and the US Chamber of Commerce Institute of Management.

The conference, "Innovative Next Steps in PreK-12 Learning," featured a dynamic lineup of speakers and workshops to empower educators with the latest educational insights and approaches.

The Bethany College Criminal Justice Department recently hosted a tabletop exercise aimed at enhancing preparedness for an active threat scenario on the college campus. The event, which took place on April 5, saw participation from various stakeholders including college representatives, Lindsborg city officials, and key figures from surrounding areas such as Ellsworth County, McPherson County, Bethany Home, Smoky Valley USD400, and the Lindsborg Community Hospital.

Lindsborg, KS - Bethany College is thrilled to announce the distinguished speakers for its upcoming Baccalaureate and Commencement ceremonies, both to be held on Saturday, April 27 at Presser Hall Auditorium. Baccalaureate Speaker: Reverend Lamont Anthony Wells Reverend Lamont Anthony Wells, Executive Director of the Network of Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) Colleges and Universities (NECU), will deliver the Baccalaureate address. Reverend Wells, a dynamic speaker and human rights activist, brings a wealth of experience in fostering ecumenism, social justice, and inclusion. His insightful and inspiring messages resonate with audiences worldwide. Commencement Speaker: Dr. Brent Mai ('85) Dr. Brent Mai ('85), Dean of Libraries at Wichita State University, will deliver the Commencement address. A Western Kansas native and distinguished academic leader, Dr. Mai's career spans prestigious institutions such as Purdue, Vanderbilt, and Concordia - Portland Universities. His expertise in library sciences, coupled with his extensive research on the history and culture of the Volga Germans, enriches his engaging speeches. Both ceremonies, integral parts of Bethany's Lutheran heritage, will take place at Presser Hall Auditorium. The Baccalaureate service at 10:30 a.m., will feature worship, music performances by Bethany music ensembles, and reflections. The Commencement ceremony will follow at 2:00 p.m., celebrating the academic achievements of Bethany's graduating class.
