October 24, 2024

Lindsborg, Kan. – Oct. 24, 2024 – Bethany College is pleased to announce the creation of the Matthew 25 Scholarship, endowed by Rob and Celeste Habiger. '69. This new scholarship will support students who are committed to serving others and seek to explore how their education at Bethany can equip them to impact their communities positively.

Rob and Celeste Habiger have remained deeply connected to their alma mater. Rob, who earned a master's and doctorate in physics after serving in the U.S. Air Force, is vice chair of Bethany's Board of Directors and chairs the Presidential Search Committee. Celeste, a social worker and longtime volunteer, serves as a Class Agent for the Class of 1969.

Both have contributed to Bethany in numerous ways, including a $28,000 gift to the Path to Your Purpose initiative, which helped launch the college's Pathways Internship program. Their latest contribution, the Matthew 25 Scholarship, reflects the couple's lifelong commitment to service, inspired by their faith and the teachings of Matthew 25, which emphasize caring for others.

"We believe that our faith calls us to put the focus on others when our natural tendency is to just think about ourselves," Rob Habiger said. "Service to others has been a life-long journey for us, and we are proud of Bethany for helping students discern and nurture a calling of service to their communities."

The scholarship will support students who share this commitment and wish to use their Bethany education to serve others. Anyone interested in contributing to the Matthew 25 Scholarship may contact the Office of Advancement and Alumni Engagement at alumni@bethanylb.edu or 785-227-3380 ext. 8270., or send a check to Bethany College, 335 E.
