Dr. Steve Eckman, appointed Bethany College's Interim President for the next 12-18 months, brings a wealth of leadership experience from his distinguished career in higher education. Previously the Chancellor at York University in York, Nebraska, and with an eleven-year tenure as President of York College, Dr. Eckman is known for his commitment to academic excellence.

His extensive career includes roles at Lubbock Christian University as assistant director of admissions, dean of students, associate professor of Bible, vice president for student services, and director of institutional effectiveness and planning. Dr. Eckman has also held significant positions such as Executive Vice President, CFO, Senior VP for Advancement at Ohio Valley University, and a ministerial role at Taylor Street Church of Christ in New Mexico.

Dr. Eckman holds degrees including an associate of arts from York College, a Bachelor of Arts in Bible from Harding University, a master's degree in Biblical and Related Studies, a Master of Divinity from Abilene Christian University, and a Doctor of Ministry from Amridge University in Montgomery, Alabama.

Dr. Eckman, expressing commitment to maintaining visibility and active involvement in campus events, plans to engage with the local culture, embracing his Swedish heritage.

Arriving in Lindsborg in January, Dr. Eckman and his wife LaRee, parents of two married sons and grandparents to seven grandchildren, look forward to contributing to Bethany College's success during his tenure as Interim President.
