Interlibrary Loan

The interlibrary loan service is available for Bethany College affiliated students, faculty, and staff, as well as community. Interlibrary loans may be requested through the OCLC WorldCat database or by using the online form. Please make sure you have exhausted all library and online resources before requesting a loan. Interlibrary loan costs are not generally passed on to students, faculty or staff. Renewal of interlibrary loans can be requested from the lending library through the interlibrary loan librarian. When a patron orders an interlibrary loan and DOES NOT pick it up, they will be charged $1.00 per item. Interlibrary loans take at least 1 to 2 weeks to receive. Please contact the Interlibrary Loan Librarian if you have questions

How to exhaust the library’s resources before you send an InterLibrary Loan:

  1. Have you checked the Online Catalog by subject for book titles that you need?
  2. Have you checked the Online Catalog by searching by the title of the journal for the journal article that you need?
  3. Have you checked the databases that are available to you for full text? Tip: Copy and paste any title that you are looking for into online and database search screens to see if the full text is available in any of them. It is much easier to print or email an article then to request an interlibrary loan.
  4. After you have exhausted all the resources available to you at the library you may proceed to WorldCat , or fill out the form below. If you have any questions, please ask a librarian
  5. Please screenshot or print out what you have requested in case you have any questions about the status of your interlibrary loan.

Academic Accommodations (ADA)

Academic Accommodations

Bethany College accommodations provide equal access and opportunity to benefit from classes, programs, and activities. Common accommodations may include note takers, extended time, testing in a distraction free environment, and accessible classrooms. Using accommodations can make a big difference in the learning experience for a student.

High School vs. College

Requesting accommodations in college is a different process than in high school. It’s important to understand the differences and learn how to navigate the process before going into college.

  • IEP's and 504 Plans are not used in college
  • The student is responsible for disclosing their disability to the ADA Coordinator
  • Student must provide the ADA Coordinator with documentation of their disability before accommodations can be implemented

Please stop by the Student Success Center to visit with the ADA Coordinator regarding your disability and options at Bethany. The ADA Coordinator is located in Room 117 of the Wallerstedt Library and can be reached at 785-227-3380 ext. 8138 or sniderjl@bethanylb.edu. For the month of August, contact Angelica Carrillo-Hernandez. She can be reached at 785-227-33 ext. 8570 or carrillohernandezae@bethanylb.edu.

WRITING CENTER

Every writer needs an interested reader, and the Bethany Writing Center offers free, skilled peer feedback to student writers.

The Writing Center can help at any point in the writing and revising process. Trained student tutors representing several majors along with an English professor are available to work with students who need help with brainstorming, organizing, thesis development, revising for sense and meaning, or surface issues of spelling and grammar. We welcome students with questions about all kinds of writing – professional emails, reports, research papers, creative work, and any other writing they do while at Bethany.

The Writing Center believes that writing is a process and each friendly consultation is based on cooperative learning. The center is not a drop-off editing or proofreading service, but a place to learn more about writing and to focus on a specific written assignment.

The Writing Center also offers workshops and clinics throughout the year in a variety of subjects. The center maintains a library of writing assignments and grading criteria from many professors in most areas of study that may be consulted on site. The center offers handouts and examples of three academic citation styles: APA, MLA, and Chicago.

Drop-ins and appointments available Monday through Thursday

12:00pm-1:00pm or 6:00pm-9:00pm Wallerstedt 118.

Contact the center at writinghelp@bethanylb.edu.

The Writing Center is a service of the English, Theatre Arts, and Communication department.
