Bethany College Choir Earns Carnegie Hall Invitation; Benefit Concert to Support Students
Bethany College is excited to announce that its choir students have been invited to perform at the iconic Carnegie Hall in New York City; a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that represents both the dedication of current students and the proud musical tradition of Bethany College.
As part of the National Concert Chorus, students will join singers from across the country for an unforgettable performance at Carnegie Hall under the direction of renowned conductors Cameron LaBarr and Michael Barrett, featuring dynamic choral works, immersive artistic projections, and exclusive rehearsal and performance experiences in New York City.
For many students, this trip will mark their first time traveling outside of Kansas, and the chance to perform on a stage of this caliber will stand as a defining highlight of their college careers. More than 20 students are expected to participate, representing a diverse ensemble where 68% are first-year students and more than 80% are non-music majors.
“This is not just a performance; it is a transformative educational experience,” said Dr. Troy Robertson, Bethany College’s assistant professor of music and director of choral activities. “It expands our students’ horizons, strengthens the choral program, and connects them to a proud tradition that has inspired generations of Bethany College musicians.” This opportunity is already helping build momentum for Bethany College’s growing program. In fact, Bethany College has seen a 400% increase in declared interest in vocal majors among the current first-year class.
To support the students’ upcoming trip, Bethany College will host a Bethany Choir and Handbells Concert on Saturday, November 16, at 3 pm at Bethany Lutheran Church in Lindsborg, Kansas. The concert will feature performances by the Bethany Choir, Chamber Choir, and Handbell Ensemble and is a chance for the community to enjoy an afternoon of choral music while helping fund this extraordinary educational experience.
