LINDSBORG, KS. JUNE 11, 2025 — Bethany College is proud to announce the appointment of Christie Denniston as Vice President of Advancement & Alumni Engagement. She will officially begin her position at Bethany College on July 21. Denniston brings more than three decades of experience in marketing, strategic communications, and higher education engagement to her new role at Bethany College.
Denniston most recently served as the Associate Vice President of Strategic Engagement at Utah Valley University (UVU) in Orem, Utah. Prior to that, she was Executive Director of Marketing and Strategic Communications at Simpson College. She also served as a marketing director at Weber State University. Denniston’s decision to join Bethany College was deeply influenced by a personal connection and a shared belief in the mission of the institution.
“My reason for joining Bethany College is that it combines the very best ideals of higher education. An education at Bethany College is built on community, commitment, and care. Most importantly, I believe in the power of a liberal arts education to prepare students for an ever-changing world. Second, the community of alumni, the relationships forged at Bethany, and the impact that students, faculty, and staff make are what attracted me to the institution. I recognize the significance of this role and the enormous responsibility that comes with serving the people of Bethany College, Lindsborg, alumni, and future students. I look forward to this opportunity to serve Bethany College.”
Bethany College President Laura Crawley shared her enthusiasm about Denniston’s appointment:
“I am delighted to welcome Christie Denniston to Bethany College and to Lindsborg, a place she already knows and loves. A leader who is both inspired by Bethany’s story and ready to help shape its next chapter, Christie brings a wealth of experience to the task of connecting people to the heart of a college’s mission. Her belief in the value of Lutheran higher education and the liberal arts makes her a wonderful fit for Bethany.
As a first-generation college student, Denniston is passionate about creating pathways for student success and strengthening lifelong alumni relationships. She is also known for her strategic approach to institutional storytelling, philanthropy, and building lasting partnerships. Outside of her professional life, Denniston enjoys spending time with her husband and son. She is proud of her Swedish heritage and is a lifelong Lutheran.
