Biography
Johannah Cairns is a multidisciplinary artist and Assistant Professor of 3-D studio art at Bethany College in Lindsborg, KS. She holds a BA in Visual Art from the University of Kansas, a Post-Baccalaureate of Artisanry Ceramics Certificate from the University of Massachusetts-Dartmouth, and an MFA in Ceramics from Ohio University.
In 2026, Cairns was nominated for the Dedalus Foundation MFA Fellowship. She was the recipient of the Anonymous Studio Artist Fellowship at the Northern Clay Center and was the recipient of the Outstanding Student Achievement in Contemporary Sculpture Award from the International Sculpture Center in 2022. In 2019, she was the recipient of the Windgate University Fellows Scholarship Endowment through the University of Kansas and Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts.
Cairns’ work focuses on the fallibility of memory in relationship to relocation and the underdocumentation of personal history.
