Biography 
Dr. Tash Smith serves as the Academic Dean at Bethany College. He holds a Ph.D. in American History from the University of Oklahoma, with a focus on American Indian history and the American West, as well as an M.A. in History from North Dakota State University.

Before joining Bethany, Dr. Smith was a tenured professor and Chair of the Humanities Department at St. Gregory’s University in Shawnee, Oklahoma. He also served as Chair of the Faculty Council and played a key role in academic program development and institutional leadership.

He is the author of Capture These Indians for the Lord: Indians, Methodists, and Oklahomans, 1844–1939 (University of Arizona Press), which received the 2014 Saddlebag Selection Award from the Historical Society of the United Methodist Church.
