Jacob Spilker Announced as New Vice President of Advancement and Alumni Engagement at Bethany College

LINDSBORG, KAN., Sept. 16, 2022 – Bethany College is pleased to announce Jacob Spilker '15 as the new Vice President of Advancement and Alumni Engagement, effective Sept. 28. "I am thrilled to be joining the advancement team at Bethany College. As an alum, it has been great to see the growth under the leadership of President Mauch. It is a once-in-a-lifetime chance to work alongside President Mauch, Brenda Meyer, and the rest of the advancement team as we continue to push towards a very bright future for our Dear Ol' Bethany. I look forward to diving into the community and meeting so many others that share the same vision for Bethany College as we all work together to bring it to life." remarks Spilker. 

 

Spilker graduated Cum Laude from Bethany College in 2015 and then became a Program Specialist for the Nebraska Lutheran Outdoor Ministries until 2016. He then joined Camp Tomah Shinga as an Associate Director responsible for all programming on-site and, in 2018, was promoted to Executive Camp Director overseeing all operations. Since 2016, Spilker has tripled the attendance and largely increased the endowment at Camp Tomah Shinga. President Mauch shares, "it is exciting to welcome Jacob back and add his proven skillset to the leadership and advancement teams here at Bethany."

Bethany College is proud to announce the return of sideline cheer, launching with the 2025–26 academic year. Leading the program is newly appointed head coach Patricia Smith, an experienced educator and cheer coach. Sideline cheer will return to Bethany’s home football and basketball games.

Bethany College is pleased to announce the appointment of Audrey Saxton as the new Assistant Professor of English. Saxton earned both her Master of Arts and Ph.D. in English from Penn State University, where she taught courses in writing and composition, world literature, and pre-1800 literature.

Bethany College is pleased to announce the appointment of Megan Case as the new Assistant Professor of Religion. Case earned her doctorate from the University of Texas at Austin in 2016 in Ancient Mediterranean Religions with a graduate portfolio in Women's and Gender Studies.
