Biography 
Laura Hammes Black teaches violin privately and is on the violin faculty of Bethany College in Lindsborg, KS, and Friends University in Wichita, KS. She is the Concertmaster of the Chamber Orchestra of Smoky Valley and Concertmaster of the Bethany College Orchestra. Black is a member of the Wichita Symphony, the Music Theatre of Wichita Orchestra, and the Wichita Grand Opera Orchestra. She freelances throughout the Kansas and Oklahoma areas. Black is the Director of the ICT Young Artists Academy in Wichita, Kansas, and the Artistic Director and Strings Coordinator of Camp Allegro Wichita. She is also on the faculty of the Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp and the Bethany College Music Camp. In 2011, Black received the Daniel J. Sevart Award for Community Service by the Wichita Symphony. She has played in the Flint Symphony in Michigan and the Evansville Philharmonic and Fort Wayne Symphony in Indiana. Ms. Black has a Master of Music degree in Violin Performance with a minor in Music History from Indiana University, where she studied with Josef Gingold, and a Bachelor of Music degree in Violin Performance from the University of Michigan, where she studied with Angel Reyes.
